Firearms in the movies (a question)...

Robert DeNiro starred as bank robber Neil McCauley in the 1995 film Heat opposite Al Pacino, who played LAPD Detective Vincent Hanna. Set in Los Angeles, the two characters shoot it out in the movie's finale on the east side of the LAX airport at night.

Question: what type of SA pistol is DeNiro's character using in the finale gunfight?

To me, it looks like a SigSauer P228 or P229, but I'm not sure. Anyone here positively ID this pistol, or at least have a good guess?

Amazing movie. It's been in my top 3 of all time ever since I saw it. Michael Mann is probably the most talented director alive... looking forward to his prohibition era gangster movie coming out soon.
